Support Us
Help keep the Museum open, cared for, and welcoming.
The Museum operates through volunteer dedication and community generosity. You can take part by volunteering, becoming a member, renewing membership, or making a donation.
Volunteering
Board Members
The Historical Glass Museum is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, curators, and docents. Members willing to serve on the Board help guide decisions affecting Museum operations.
The Board meets for approximately two hours once a month, and members who cannot attend at the Museum may attend by conference call.
Docents
Volunteers greet guests, act as tour guides, and help bring the Museum contents alive. Serving as little as one day a month helps a great deal because the Museum is open on weekends.
You do not need to be an expert on glass. We train docents to understand the display cases and answer common questions.
Inventory Project
The Museum is updating and photographing the collection inventory. Volunteers can learn skills related to appraisal and museum practice while assisting with this work.
Cleaning Day
Third Thursday: Volunteers open cases, dust, rearrange, and care for displays.
Membership
Membership includes free admission to the Museum, a 10% discount in the Gift Shop, and one copy per household of the organization newsletter.
Membership Levels
- Individual Membership: $30 donation per year, plus $5 for a second person in the same household
- Club or Organization: $30 donation per year
- Business Membership: $50 donation per year
- Full-Time Student: $10 donation per year with student ID and email address
- Lifetime Membership: $1000 one-time donation
Life Members and volunteer docents receive a 20% Gift Shop discount. Members who visit during their birthday month and make a Gift Shop purchase may receive the birthday discount described by the Museum.
Email newsletter delivery is recommended because it saves postage and printing costs. The Museum does not share member email addresses with other organizations.
Donations
The Museum relies on members and supporters to fund daily operations and ongoing projects. Donations may include cash, glass, glass-related items, office supplies, real property, or items that may be sold in the Gift Shop.
All glass donations should be pre-approved before being brought to the Museum. The Museum may pass on donations when storage is limited or the collection is overstocked.
Glass Donations
- Items for the Museum permanent collection.
- Items specifically designated for sale in the Museum Gift Shop.
- Duplicate or excess items that may be sold to support Museum expenses.
An itemized list is appreciated when donating glass because it helps with bookkeeping.
Cash and PayPal
The Museum accepts checks made payable to the Historical Glass Museum. Donors may designate gifts for the Restoration Fund, Current Operating Fund, in memory of someone, or in honor of someone.
PayPal may be used for donations and renewing existing memberships. New membership applications should use the membership form process described by the Museum.
Tax Deductible
The Historical Glass Museum Foundation is certified by the IRS as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Donations may be tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for your specific situation.
